BOTOX® has been used with increasing frequency by doctors for over 20 years for more and more medical conditions. It also allows many people to experience blissful breaks from migraine headaches, tension headaches, tempromandibular joint pain (TMJ pain), and bruxism. If you have been prescribed a bite block because of teeth grinding, you should also consider Botox treatment for the masseter (chewing) muscles. In addition, Dr. Braun has found Botox very useful for patients with chronic soft tissue pain in their head and neck, often following motor vehicle accidents or other trauma.
BOTOX® benefits:
- relief of severe headaches
- the cost of the BOTOX® is usually covered under Extended Health Medical Benefit programs
How BOTOX® works:
The procedure is fairly simple. A small volume of BOTOX® solution is injected into the affected area through a very fine needle. The needle is placed just under the skin. You will receive multiple injections based on your doctor’s assessment of the area and condition to be treated.
What to expect from BOTOX® injections:
Pain relief with Botox is often dramatic and profound. The reduction in pain from various syndromes ranges from 3-6 months. The tiny injections are tailored depending on the patient’s feedback. It usually only takes one or two sessions of Botox to determine the success of your response.
Botox Therapeutic is covered by most private insurance plans. If the cost of your Botox is covered by your plan, we will only charge you an injection fee. Please call the clinic for a consultation.
