Pixel™ Fractional Resurfacing in Vancouver

Fractional skin resurfacing is a procedure commonly used to restore a youthful appearance to wrinkled, prematurely aged, or sun damaged skin. While results can be excellent, laser resurfacing can be painful and have extended downtime. In the past people have sometimes been housebound and unable to return to work for months at a time.

When it comes to facial rejuvenation in Vancouver, things have changed dramatically. A new FDA approved laser device, the Pixel™ by Alma laser, is designed to improve the quality and texture of the skin while it stimulates collagen regeneration – all without the downtime associated with traditional skin resurfacing. Other examples of fractional skin resurfacing are the Fraxel, the Pearl and the Sciton.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Benefits

Fractional skin resurfacing for improved texture, tone and pore size minimization. Pixel™ Fractional Skin Resurfacing is an FDA approved procedure that offers results comparable to laser resurfacing without the discomfort or need for lengthy recuperation. The Pixel™ is the next generation of laser skin resurfacing technology that improves:

  • fine lines
  • skin tone
  • brown spots
  • improves pore appearance
  • improves acne scars
  • improves surgical and traumatic scars

How Laser Skin Resurfacing Works

Pixel™ skin fractional resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny holes in the skin, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue from the edges of the microscopic hole.

This Vancouver skin rejuvenation treatment targets small zones of the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The end result: new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of skin imperfections with fast healing times.

Treatment Areas

Any area of the skin can be treated that has surface irregularities, including: wrinkles, acne scars, and stretchmarks. Common areas treated include the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. One can even improve the appearance of white stretch marks on the abdomen and thighs following pregnancy.

Number of Treatments

Generally, treatment involves three to six sessions at three week intervals. Pixel™ is often bundled with other light-based therapies to achieve optimum results, such as IPL photorejuvenation, Thermage® and other skin tightening procedures in addition to skin care procedures like microdermabrasion in Vancouver.

What to Expect

There is minimal discomfort during the treatment, and sensitive individuals are offered a topical anaesthetic cream. The majority of patients do not require anything. Most commonly, clients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Clients experience a sunburn-like sensation afterward (3 to 4 hours) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturizer.

Make-up can be applied immediately afterward. Some flaking and redness can be experienced for 2 or 3 days with full recovery in about 5 to 7 days. Your skin will look better within days following the treatment, and results steadily improve over the next few months.
