BOTOX® for Jaw Reduction
A refined, sleek profile is a desirable trait for many, and it’s common for women and men alike to wish to slim their jawlines in order bring harmony to their facial features. At our Vancouver practice, jawline reduction with BOTOX® is a popular, minimally invasive way to soften and enhance the shape of the face without surgery. This comfortable procedure is quick and can create a noticeably slimmer jawline that emerges gradually for a natural-looking change.

BOTOX® Jawline Reduction Benefits
There are a few reasons using BOTOX® to reduce the size of the jaw is a preferable alternative to jaw reduction surgery.
- It is less expensive than surgery.
- BOTOX® requires no downtime, so patients may return to their regular activities immediately.
- It provides gradual, temporary results for a subtle yet noticeable improvement that can be touched up as desired.
How BOTOX® Works on the Jawline
A wide jawline is often due to oversized masseter muscles. Although these muscles are important to help us chew and speak, they can become enlarged due to a genetic predisposition or simple overuse. The active ingredient in BOTOX® reduces the activity in this muscle, eventually reducing its size. This results in a softer, slimmer jawline.
During your consultation, your physician will evaluate your jawline and confirm that oversized masseter muscles are responsible for the shape of your jawline. Together, you’ll choose an effective treatment plan that aligns with your lifestyle and desired goals.
What to Expect
The procedure is not unlike other BOTOX® treatments at our Vancouver practice. A member of our medical team begins by cleansing your face. The doctor then injects the product into the masseter muscles. Each injection lasts only seconds, with most treatments completed within 10 minutes.
After your appointment, you may return to your regular activities immediately. You may notice some residual tenderness, bruising, or redness at the injection sites. These symptoms are temporary and typically resolve themselves within a day or so.
Your results will take some time to develop as the masseter muscle weakens and becomes smaller. Most patients say they see results about 6 weeks after their procedure, and results can last up to 6 months. Some patients may choose to undergo 2 or 3 treatments in a year especially if TMJ and/or bruxism is a factor.
