Hair Restoration Therapy

Introducing a highly personalized treatment plan that takes a comprehensive 360 approach to hair loss.

Using platelet rich plasma therapy, and a series of in-depth testing to assess for indicators of nutrient deficiencies or genetic markers for illness, our HRT treatment aims to optimize your body’s regenerative abilities to help increase your chances for hair growth.

About Hair Restoration Therapy

You normally lose 50 to 100 strands of hair a day. In most cases new hair grows in its place, but what happens when it doesn’t?

Studies show that some of the most common causes of hair loss include age, genetic predisposition, illness, hormonal imbalance, stress, and nutrient deficiency. And, while some over the counter solutions can help temporarily slow the progression of hair loss, it is bound to reoccur unless you get to the root cause of the problem.

Our Hair Restoration Therapy (HRT) dives deep into your hair loss symptoms to help treat your condition over time. Using platelet rich plasma therapy, and a series of in-depth testing to assess for indicators of chronic illness and nutrient deficiencies, we create a highly personalized health plan that aims to optimize your body’s regenerative abilities to help increase your chances for restoration.

Benefits

  • Non-surgical solution to reduce hair loss with no downtime
  • Minimally invasive
  • Offers a holistic and comprehensive approach to hair loss
  • PRP promotes the creation of new blood vessels and may slow down hair loss
  • PRP results in decreased inflammation around the follicle (inflammation can stunt hair growth and cause hair loss)
  • Uses state of the art testing to help identify possible root causes of your hair loss
  • HRT is combined with a personalized supplement plan, or prescribed supplement medication plan (Level 2)

How It Works

Hair Restoration Therapy is offered in two levels.

Level 1

1.Comprehensive Health Review

Our in-depth comprehensive health assessment looks for possible root causes of  your hair loss struggles such as nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and disease.

During your review, our family practitioner performs an in depth analysis of your current state of health; this includes a thorough look into your hair, scalp, nails, and skin, as well as your current protein and vitamin levels**. Through screening for conditions such as an overactive or under-active thyroid, essential mineral and protein deficiencies, a sluggish or compromised immune system, and any hormonal imbalances, we are able to better understand why you are losing hair and support hair loss prevention over time. Essentially, the results of your comprehensive assessment help us create a customized treatment plan to help prolong the effects of our Hair Restoration Therapy.

2. Stress Analysis (Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Test)

The HRV test helps to measure your risk for cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and immune disorders; providing a powerful snapshot into your current health condition. Through revealing how your body reacts to stress, and how your autonomic nervous system (heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, metabolism, etc.) has been affected over time, we are able to further identify any additional factors that could be relating to your hair loss struggles.

3. LED Cap Therapy

We incorporate the Capillus LED Cap into our HRT treatment because low level light therapy is great for regrowth and wound healing. Its regenerative and fortifying properties make it an important step before and after platelet rich plasma injections. This step is offered in clinic.

4. Platelet-Rich-Plasma PRP for Hair Growth

A simple non-surgical treatment that involves extracting platelet rich plasma (containing at least seven different growth factors that stimulate hair growth and rejuvenate scalp tissues) from the patient’s own blood, and injecting it into the scalp to improve hair density, follicle health and slow the signs of hair loss and thinning.

PRP is extracted from the patient’s own blood and a result of this, there is virtually no risk of allergic reactions or side effects. At Vancouver Laser Skin Care Centre, we use the WorldPRP™ system. This system has been proven to contain the highest quality of viable platelets resulting in three times more PRP with unrivaled purity.

5. Supplement Recommendations

Based on the results of your Comprehensive Health Review, our family practitioner will prescribe a list of supplements to help treat any nutrient deficiencies, and improve your overall health in order to support your hair loss restoration journey. These supplements will be available for purchase in a ‘take home kit’, or can be purchased elsewhere at the patient’s own discretion.

Level 2

Level 2 includes all the steps in Level 1, with the addition of in-clinic international testing, and prescribed supplement medication.

1.Comprehensive Health Review

2. Stress Analysis (HRV)

3.Comprehensive Oxidative Stress Assessment

This assessment helps determine the presence of excess free radicals (like rust) inside your body. These excess free radicals can lead to cancer and many chronic degenerative diseases and can also contribute to an unhealthy aging process.

4.Micronutrient Analysis

This test helps to determine your body’s reserve levels of important vitamins and cofactors; as insufficient levels often contribute to chronic fatigue, poor immune function, degenerative diseases and premature aging

5. LED Cap Therapy

6.Platelet-Rich-Plasma – PRP for Hair Growth

7.Glutathione Injection

We include a Glutathione Injection into our treatment because it contains powerful antioxidants that help improve immune function and fight disease, while detoxifying and releasing oxidative stress.

8. Prescribed Supplement Medication

Based on the results of your Comprehensive Health Review, our family practitioner will prescribe a 3 month supply of customized supplements to help address any nutritional deficiencies, and help to improve your overall health in order to support your hair loss restoration journey.

FAQs

Who is the ideal candidate for HRT?

The ideal candidate is one that is in the early stages of hair loss, and is looking for a customizable treatment that helps treat their hair loss from the inside out. Our HRT treatment can help discover underlying conditions that are leading to hair loss, treat nutrient deficiencies, and increase the amount of hairs in the treated area by up to 30% with PRP.

Is it painful and how long does it take?

The treatment length ranges from 1-3 hours, depending on the level chosen and whether or not a patient has their Comprehensive Health Review and functional testing appointments scheduled on the same day as their PRP treatment.

PRP only takes about 15 minutes. Many of our clients tolerate the treatment well with the Zimmer (cool air) however we always have a variety of comfort measures available if needed.

I have had a hair transplant, can I still do HRT?

Absolutely! You can add use our PRP treatment before or after a hair transplant. It can help with ensuring the transplanted hair is healthier and grows faster. It can also stimulate the existing thin hair to be thicker and healthier to help fill in the transplanted area.

When will I see results?

Everyone is different, but most clients report a visual increase in fine hair growth approximately 3-6 months after their after their third sessionSome patients see results sooner and others require repeated treatments before visible results are seen.

What kind of downtime can I expect?

As your PRP is delivered by injection, there is always a possibility of bruising and the fluid that is added can cause temporary inflammation of the treated area.

What should I avoid after the treatment?

You can resume your normal activities right after the PRP treatment including showering, shampooing your hair and working out. The only thing that we ask you to avoid is applying any harsh chemicals to your scalp for up to 72 hours after your treatment, this includes hair dye.
